The World We Left Behind

Don’t leave nature behind

it has been left waiting on platforms

tucked into the bottoms of drawers

too haphazard, absent care

the heart of the Earth is left behind

to false gods we offer favour

and from our fickle platforms

we lament the earthquakes since provoked

devoid as trees losing their leaves

forgotten prayers

we will find no favour here

the stars and forgotten memories

unable to see: we are blind

to the planet and her care

A voice upon frigid air

sad, imploring: ‘don’t leave me behind’
